The Machame Route, also known as the Whisky Route, is one of the most scenic and recommended routes on Mount Kilimanjaro. This popular route offers a variety of paths through magnificent forests, leading to a ridge that traverses the moorland zones before reaching the Shira Plateau. The route then passes beneath the glaciated precipices of the Southern Ice Fields, joining the Barafu Route on the way to the summit. Because it can be done over a longer period and the incline is more manageable, it has a higher success rate for reaching the summit.
