Important information
We understand that some companies may offer lower prices than Sote Tours and Travel & Safaris. However, the nature of safaris is inherently adventurous, and at Sote Tours and Travel, your safety is always our top priority. Ensuring this level of safety requires substantial investment in our experienced staff and well-maintained fleet of vehicles. As a trusted local tour operator, we emphasize quality and reliability over cutting corners. If you come across a safari priced significantly lower than others, it likely means that something—or someone—is being compromised.
Furthermore, Sote Tours and Travel exclusively offers private safari tours. While this option may come at a slightly higher cost, it provides exceptional benefits. You’ll enjoy greater flexibility, including control over daily departure times, customized game drive focus, and a more personalized experience. With more space in your safari vehicle, you’ll also have superior comfort and better wildlife viewing opportunities. Guided by your expert driver, you’ll explore the parks as though they are your very own, creating an unforgettable and deeply immersive safari experience.

We offer mid-range, luxury, and luxury-plus options, or a combination of these. Please don’t hesitate to let us know if you’d like to change or upgrade your accommodation.
Once we have your preferences, we will advise you on the best options available, taking into account your time, budget, and overall expectations.

What to pack for this trip;
Luggage
If possible, we recommend bringing a duffel bag or soft-sided bag, as these are easier to carry and pack inside the safari vehicle. Ideally, your bag should be made of durable, waterproof material and should be lockable. Keep any valuable items in a separate day pack, such as a backpack, and consider leaving anything of significant sentimental or monetary value safely at home.
Clothes
Pack for hot days and cool nights. Tanzania can be hot and dusty during the day, but evenings are often cool and refreshing. Layered clothing is ideal for safari days, allowing you to adjust easily to changing temperatures. Choose lightweight clothing that keeps you cool while offering protection from the sun and biting insects.
Opt for mid-tone colors and avoid wearing white or bright colors, as they may startle wildlife, as well as dark colors like black or blue, which can attract tsetse flies. The best safari colors are the classics: olive, green, and khaki. In the evenings, casual wear is perfectly acceptable—even at luxury lodges—as formal attire is not expected in the bush.
Before traveling, check the seasonal temperatures to ensure you pack enough warm clothing. A waterproof jacket is always a smart addition, no matter the time of year.
Please keep in mind that Tanzania has a conservative culture. Avoid very short shorts or low-cut tops, as these can attract unwanted attention and may be considered disrespectful in some settings.
Shoes
To avoid overpacking, carefully consider the footwear you bring. If your safari does not involve extensive walking, a comfortable pair of trainers and sports sandals will be sufficient. Sandals are also perfect for walking around camp in the evenings. Flip-flops are recommended for use in the showers.
Sun Protection
The African sun can be intense, so it is essential to come prepared:
• A high-quality pair of sunglasses to protect your eyes
• A wide-brimmed hat that shades your face, ears, and neck
• High-SPF sunscreen and lip balm with sun protection
First Aid Essentials
We suggest packing a small personal first aid kit that includes:
• Antiseptic ointment
• Antihistamine cream and tablets
• Pain relief medication (such as Nurofen or equivalent)
• Eye drops
• Anti-diarrhoea medication
• A few bandages
• Personal medications (for allergies, asthma, etc.)
• Insect repellent containing DEET or Picaridin
• Rehydration sachets or vitamin tablets
• Assorted plasters
Photography & Electrical Equipment
We recommend bringing:
• A sturdy camera bag or carry case; zip-lock bags are also useful in dusty environments
• Spare batteries and chargers
• Multiple memory cards (at least two in case of corruption)
• Binoculars (essential for wildlife spotting)
Photography Etiquette
Photography of military installations, bridges, border posts, and airports is strictly prohibited in Tanzania; doing so may result in equipment confiscation. When photographing people, always act respectfully and ask for permission first.
Electrical Charging & Power Supply
All our safari vehicles are equipped with power and charging points for your convenience.
