ANDASIBE ANALAMAZAOTRA NATIONAL PARK & PALMARIUM RESERVE



Analamazaotra National Park is located in the Northeastern of Antananarivo precisely in the village of Andasibe the national park is a wildlife reserve and which is part primary rain forest of Andasibe-Mantadia National Park. The amazing national park is located in the region of Alaotra-Mangoro 27 km from Moramanga along the national road 2 between the two provinces Antananarivo and Toamasina. The national park is home to 11 species of lemurs, 109 micromammals bird species and 3 land roller species. 120 species of orchids with an endemicity rate of 100%. Most of them are epiphytes, more than 1200 species of plants with an endemicity rate of 77%. In this national park is the best place to see the indris, and some other lemur species like woolly lemurs, grey bamboo lemurs, red-fronted lemurs, black-and-white ruffed lemurs and diademed sifakas as well as other nocturnal lemurs such as the Goodman’s mouse lemur. The private reserve of Palmarium is also known as Ankanin’ny Nofy which is translated in Malagasy as “nest of dreams”. It is 50 hectares of peninsula land which found in the Lake of Ampitabe area on the East coast of Madagascar, on the banks of the Pangalanes channel and the Indian Ocean. Four and half hours drive including speed boat transfer from Andasibe and 3 hours boat transfer on the Pangalanes channel from Toamasina, Palmarium represents one of the most beautiful areas along the Pangalanes channel, where fishermen fishing on little canoe doing their daily lives. This is one of the most easy places to spot lemurs and enjoy a calm place and to see the larggest nocturnal lemurs of the world ( AYE - AYE )
