Depart early in the morning from Arusha and drive through the scenic highlands towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (approximately 190 km, 3.5–4 hours by road). Upon arrival, descend 600 metres into the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater, the largest intact volcanic caldera on earth and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Spend the day exploring the crater floor, home to an extraordinary concentration of wildlife including lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests, hippos, and the rare black rhino. With its lush landscapes and permanent water sources, the crater offers one of the best safari experiences in Africa.
Enjoy a picnic lunch by the hippo pool before continuing your game drive. In the late afternoon, ascend from the crater and drive back to Arusha, arriving in the evening with unforgettable memories of Africa’s “Eighth Wonder of the World.”
