Depart early in the morning from Arusha and drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, arriving at the crater rim after 3 to 4 hours. After a short stop for photos and briefing, descend 600 meters into the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera.
Enjoy a full-day game drive on the crater floor, home to a dense concentration of wildlife including lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, hippos, wildebeests, and the rare black rhino. The crater is also a haven for bird lovers, especially around Lake Magadi, where flamingos and other waterbirds gather.
A picnic lunch is usually taken at the Ngoitoktok picnic site beside a hippo pool. After lunch, continue exploring before ascending the crater wall in the late afternoon.
Return to Arusha in the evening, completing a thrilling day filled with iconic wildlife and breathtaking landscapes.
