2- Day Tarangire and Ngorongoro Crater safari mid-range

After breakfast at Outpost Lodge in Arusha, you will drive for two hours to Tarangire National Park for a day of exhilarating game drives. Tarangire is one of Africa’s hidden gems and is a must-visit for all wilderness enthusiasts. The park derives its name from the Tarangire River, which flows through it and serves as the only water source during the dry season. The landscape of Tarangire is exceptionally diverse, featuring a unique mix of scenery not found elsewhere on the northern safari circuit. The park is dotted with ancient baobab trees, believed by the Maasai people to be the first trees created, as well as large termite mounds. During the dry season, the harsh sun dries up the land, giving it a distinctive dusty red hue, while the wet season transforms it into a lush paradise with dense bush and tall grasses. Tarangire is renowned for its large elephant population and is also home to zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, waterbucks, baboons, dwarf mongooses, impalas, buffalos, antelopes, and fringe-eared oryx. The park’s predators include lions, cheetahs, and leopards. The swamps are alive with flocks of birds, including green wood hoopoes, lovebirds, herons, white-bellied go-away birds, and giant kingfishers. On the drier ground, you may spot the kori bustard, as well as the heaviest flying bird, the ostrich. In the evening, you will drive for approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes to Karatu town, where you will spend the night at the Eileen's Trees Inn.
