Rising from the western part of the mountain through the four zones of climate, fantastic landscape views and wildlife, this is the most beautiful route of the mountain. Ascents up the Shira Plateau and descents to the camps provide a smooth acclimatisation, yielding the highest summiting success rate on this trail, the longest route at 67 km. It joins with the Machame route from Shira 2 camp and the Umbwe route at Baranco camp. Duration varies from 7-9 days, 8 days recommended.
