Morning: Hike from Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut Registration, Payment, and Trek Briefing: Upon arrival at Marangu Gate, complete registration formalities and receive a briefing from your guide. Then, embark on your hike through the lush rainforest. Trek through the Rainforest Zone: The trail takes you through dense, vibrant forests, home to rich birdlife, towering trees, and even blue and colobus monkeys. This section of the trek is relatively gentle and offers beautiful views of the natural environment. Duration: The hike to Mandara Hut (2,720 meters) takes about 3-4 hours, with ample time to enjoy the scenic beauty and spot wildlife along the way. Mid-day: Arrival at Mandara Hut and Picnic Lunch Rest and Refresh: Upon reaching Mandara Hut, take a break to rest, relax, and enjoy a picnic lunch amidst the serene surroundings. You can also explore the area and visit the nearby Maundi Crater, which offers stunning views of the Kenyan plains and Kilimanjaro's majestic peaks. Early Afternoon: Descent to Marangu Gate Begin Descent: After soaking in the atmosphere at Mandara Hut and taking photos, start your descent back to Marangu Gate. The trek down is quicker, taking about 2-3 hours as you retrace your steps through the rainforest. Late Afternoon: Return to Arusha Drive Back: Upon arrival at Marangu Gate, you’ll meet your driver and begin the return journey to Arusha.
