3 Day: Nyerere National Park

Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel or preferred location in Dar es Salaam. Meet your professional safari driver-guide and depart by road towards Nyerere National Park, formerly known as the Selous Game Reserve. The journey takes approximately 4–5 hours, depending on road and traffic conditions, with scenic views of rural Tanzania along the way. Upon arrival in the Nyerere area, you will proceed to your accommodation and check in at Nyerere Tented Camp. After some time to settle in and enjoy lunch, prepare for one of the highlights of the safari: an afternoon boat safari along the magnificent Rufiji River. The Rufiji River is one of the most spectacular waterways in Tanzania and provides an excellent opportunity to observe wildlife from a different perspective. As you cruise along the river and its channels, keep your camera ready for sightings of large pods of hippos, crocodiles basking along the riverbanks, elephants coming to drink, and numerous species of water birds. The peaceful atmosphere of the river, combined with the surrounding wilderness, makes this an unforgettable safari experience. After the boat safari, return to the camp for dinner and relaxation around the campfire, weather permitting.
