I need Ethiopia travel advice

I’m traveling to Addis Ababa for a wedding in January. I will be staying a week. I’m a white woman traveling with my husband (also white). We really want to see Tiya and Debre Libanos on day trips while we’re in Addis. Is the road to/ from safe? If not, would you be able to give recommendations of things to do in Addis?
