Need Advice: Accommodation Booking Not Confirmed Before Trip
Early July, I booked a safari and paid a 30% deposit for my September trip. When I asked if the accommodations were secured, I was assured they were. However, when I requested documentation, I only received a pro forma invoice instead of actual payment confirmations. After I pointed this out, the same document was resent with “invoice” simply replaced by “confirmed.” When I called to clarify, I was told that I was giving them a hard time, which felt very concerning as a paying customer. The company has many positive reviews online, so I did not expect this experience. With my travel dates only two weeks away, I contacted the accommodations directly and learned that at least one has not been paid in full. Because of this, I feel hesitant about paying the remaining balance upon arrival. This is my most important trip of the year, and both taking time off and paying for it has been a significant commitment. I would truly appreciate advice from the community on how to proceed from here and how best to communicate with the tour operator.
