Northern Serengeti - drive worth cost savings?

I am considering 2 options for a 10 day safari in July. 1) driving all the way - Arusha 1n - Tarangire 2n incl walking safari- central serengeti 1n - northern serengeti 3n- central 1 n - Ngorongoro 1 n 2) Arusha- fly in Northern Serengeti 3n, Central Serengeti 2n, Ngorongoro 1n, Tarangire 2 n or vice versa Option 1 saves USD400 pp. Wondering how tiring the drives are in option 1). Or if they are rather scenic and worth it? As for the one way flying option - is it better to go out with the presumable highlight of northern serengeti or best to start there? Other thoughts?
