A warm Welcome! My name is Nik Puppato and I come from Basel, Switzerland. I came to Ethiopia for the first time in 2009, and since then the fascination for this diverse country with its incredibly hospital people would never let me go again. Ethiopia just seemed the right place for me to make one of my biggest dreams come true, to establish my own company within the travel industry. Previously, I had worked for 15 years in the pharmaceutical industry holding various management positions in the field of regulatory affairs. As a former regulatory officer I am not only used to pay attention to details but also to carefully evaluate cost, risks and benefits of products. In this sense, I feel that my core responsibilities have not changed that much in my new role as the general manager of Welcome Ethiopia Tours. My core task is still to make sure that our guests benefit to the maximum at a fair price while enjoying the highest safety standards. Finally, I have always been an enthusiastic traveler myself visiting 57 countries in 47 years and having lived in various countries around the globe for extended periods. Every country has of course its advantages and disadvantages but Ethiopia definitely has touched my heart from the very first day. The hospitality as well as the incredibly low criminality are unique from what I have experienced in the world and were some of the main arguments that convinced me to permanently relocate from Basel to Addis Ababa.
