The 8-day trek of Mount Kilimanjaro via the Marangu Route is a popular and relatively comfortable climb, known for its hut accommodations instead of camping. The journey begins at Marangu Gate, passing through dense rainforest rich in wildlife before opening into moorland with unique plants and scenic views. Trekkers stay at Mandara, Horombo, and Kibo huts along the way.
An extra acclimatization day at Horombo improves summit success by helping the body adjust to altitude. The climb continues to Kibo Hut, where the final ascent begins at midnight toward Uhuru Peak (5,895 m). Reaching the summit at sunrise offers spectacular views above the clouds. Afterward, climbers descend along the same route back to Marangu Gate.
