Half Day - Dar-Es-Salaam City Tour

CLOCK TOWER: Centre land mark, erected by the citizen themselves to celebrate Dar es Salaam city status granted on 11th December 1961. All measurement is taken from here, a central point for Dar es Salaam. MNAZI MMOJA: This is near Uhuru and Jamuhuri Street, one side is Uhuru Torch which was placed on the pick of Mt Kilimanjaro to commemorate Tanzania independence on 09th December 1962. FISH MARKET KIVUKONI: The main fish market in Dar es Salaam. A Variety of fish in every shape and size is sold on retail and wholesale basis. Fish species include crustaceans, Octopus, Kingfish etc. NATIONAL MUSEUM: Established in 1940 in memory of the King George the fifth of England, offers Permanent history of Tanzania, including the first being found Rock and Art Painting ASKARI MONUMENT: Erected in 1927 to honor the African soldier who fought in the First World War THE STATE HOUSE: Originally built by German in 1891 as governor s palace. Damaged by the British navel gunfire in 1914 and reconstructed in 1922. ST. JOSEPH CATHEDRAL: Built in 1902, the main Roman Catholic Church in Dar es Salaam. OLD BOMA HISTORICAL BUILDINGS: Built in 1866, one of the city’s oldest structures. A former sultan of Zanzibar, who had fled across the narrow straight of sea that separates Dar es Salaam from the island of Zanzibar after a palace coup built the Old Boma for use as a palace and royal guest house. VILLAGE MUSEUM: Collection of on-site- Traditional buildings from different places and ethnic groups in Tanzania TINGA TINGA ARTS: This painting style developed in the second half of 20 century, the oyster Bay Area of Dar es Salaam, and later spread through East Africa, it is the most of widely spread painting for tourists. These painting are traditionally made on Masonite using several layers of bicycle paint, which enhances the bright colors.
