We are looking to do a "last minute" safari to the northern parks next month. We are keen to see all types of wildlife and to avoid crowds as far as possible. Experiencing the Serengeti is the main attraction for us, followed by the Crater. Not expecting to see the migration, but would like to go to areas where resident game numbers are high and crowds are low. Our draft itinerary is for 10 days, in a private safari vehicle with driver guide is as follows: I have highlighted our questions with * Day 1 - arrive and stay Arusha Day 2 - Arusha to Tarangire and NP for pm safari. We have a choice of accommodation for 2 nights either outside (Lake Burunge Baobob tented camp - 20 mins to NP gate) or inside (Tarangire Elephant Springs). *Pros and Cons of each location?* Both get great reviews. DAY 3 Tarangire NP full day. * Do we need 1.5 days in Tarangire or is 2 half days enough?* DAY 4 Lake Manyara NP - half day then in the afternoon travel on to either Marera Valley Lodge or Kitela lodge. *Tempted to do 2 half days in Tarangire and then head straight to Central Serengeti on Day 3 afternoon - Looks to be about a 4h drive. views please* DAY 5 Drive to Central Serengeti via Naabi Hill Gate. 3 nights Central Serengeti NP. Accommodation at Kubu Kubu DAY 6 AND DAY 7 Central Serengeti NP DAY 8 Central to Western Serengeti NP stay 1 night in Western Corridor Lahia tented lodge or Mbalageti Tented Lodge. Both get great reviews *which has the best location?* DAY 9 Serengeti to Ngorongoro - morning game drive arriving late afternoon at Ngorogor Lions Paw for 1 night *Are the Central/Western NP locations good at this time of year and is split 3+1 good? If we skip Lake Manyara we could have a 5th night in the Serengeti. Suggestions please for maximising the experience with 5 nights* DAY 10 Crater game drive, packed lunch at designated picnic area and then leave for Arusha and stay overnight. * is a full morning (say 6 hours) enough time in the crater?* The drive to Arusha - looks to be about a 3-4 hours drive. DAY 11 leave for home.
