7 Days Lemosho route Kilimanjaro climbing

kilisumaadventures

The 7-day Lemosho Route is one of the most scenic and successful routes to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. Beginning on the western side of the mountain, it offers a gradual ascent, giving trekkers time to acclimatize while enjoying diverse landscapes—from lush rainforests and moorlands to alpine deserts and glaciers. The route provides excellent views of Mount Meru and Shira Plateau. The trek starts with a hike through the rainforest to Mti Mkubwa Camp, then continues to Shira 1 and Shira 2 Camps, crossing the expansive Shira Plateau. You’ll ascend to Lava Tower (4,600m) for acclimatization before descending to Barranco Camp, known for its stunning valley views. The next challenge is the Barranco Wall, followed by a trek to Karanga and Barafu Camps, the base for your final summit push. Summit day begins before dawn, reaching Uhuru Peak (5,895m) at sunrise—Africa’s highest point. The descent follows the Mweka Route through moorlands and rainforest to Mweka Gate. The Lemosho Route is ideal for those seeking a less crowded, highly scenic, and successful climb.
