Customary Time to Tip

Is there a customary time during your Safari to tip your guide? We will have the same guide for 10 days. I have read that both tipping at the end of the trip and each day are acceptable. Those of you who have a lot of experience in Tanzania, is there a preferable time to tip your guide?
