Kenya vs Serengeti or other safaris in May

We are planning to do our first safari for 5-10 days in mid-May and are struggling to figure out where to head. Some people rave about the Serengeti, others about Masai Mara and so many other destinations… We aren’t rustic campers but don't do very high end trips either. We’ve been unlucky spotting tigers on safaris in a preserve in India so hope for better results with the main animals in Africa. Any advice on which region or park? Thanks, Jose.
