South Luangwa planning questions

South Luangwa planning questions

I am planning a 7-9 night visit to SLNP in either July or September 2026 for myself and my wife. This is my first trip to Zambia but my third safari in Africa. I am interested in visiting the central section, as well as the northern and southern sections of the park. I'm interested in people's insight as to visiting in late July vs. a mid September safari (weather, wildlife, photography conditions). I am hoping to see leopards, lions, and wild dogs, and my wife is always interested in the elephants. I've been looking at Kafunta's River Lodge and their Three Rivers camp for the central and southern sections and Lions Camp in the north has intrigued my interest. I haven't seen many comments on those camps and would be interested in thoughts about these operations or other options. I am also curious as to the transfers from one camp to another. Are those basically done as part of a game drive? I'm starting to plan early and typically I like to do a lot of research before making my travel decisions and I look forward to any advice that people can provide who have spent time in South Luangwa.
